Defiled Hearts: The Barbarian (alpha demo)
A story about love and revenge set in Ancient Rome.
Please note that the game is intended for mature audience only (18+). The public demo doesn't include such scenes but the finished game will be rated 18+.
You are one of the last surviving members of your tribe destroyed by the Romans. As the last remaining druid of your religion, it is your duty to make things right. In a desperate search for vengeance you enlist into the Legion under a fake name and a made up past. You were supposed to be dead, but now you are an Auxiliary of Rome - a foreigner fighting for the might of the Empire. Youβre alone, surrounded by enemies. Also, there's a foreign voice in your head, urging you to kill. Is it your deity, or something else entirely?
Will you find love in the last place you thought possible?
- Customize your own angry Pict: choose your sex, gender, and sexuality.
- There are 5 romanceable characters: an arrogant Centurion who killed your father, a rude noblewoman, a protective Tribune, and a gentle merchant. And, of course, your childhood friend (who seems somewhat... changed?)

The public demo is about 240k words long, excluding the code. The closed alpha demo on Patreon is around 200k words long (the closed alpha is a direct continuation of the game, it starts where the public demo ended).

Iβm obsessed with this oml neeed to play the full game! Iβm in love with tinsae I really wanna see when she + Camilla figures out my mc is actually a women and also I felt so bad having to choose between going with Quinn or tinsae at the end but also so curious as to what quinn is so afraid of that tinsae can sense? And the amulet?
This is amazing!! Needed a good story to immerse myself in and i enjoyed it β€ The plot is intriguing, the characters are well-written, the MC is great and the ROs are pretty likeable in their own ways.
I was determined to hate Marcus but gosh why is that cocky dude making me smile and laugh? how am i suppose to take revenge easily π©
Quinn is so sus and I dont trust him one bit from the beginning but i cant resist falling for him. He makes me weak, i folded every time fr he has stolen my heart (Obviously he's my fav)
Niall is quite nice, I dont particularly have any strong feeling for him. I guess I'm neutral about him, althou i do enjoy teasing him lmao
Tinsae is my ideal girlfriend ngl her personality is exactly my cup of tea. Shes so gentle and comforting to be around even thou shes mysterious.
Didnt have a good impression of Camilla at the start bcoz i cant stand her rudeness but then i realized shes actually not that bad and is fun to tease, its giving tsundere haha
Btw shout out to my fav side character Antonia, that kiddo deserves the world
Hi, I'm having an issue with starting the game as I'm unable to type in a custom name? The field is there, as is the little line to show I can type it in but whenever I enter the letters nothing shows up.
I might be being stupid and missing it, but is there anyway to make the game widescreen? It's not too much of an issue, it's just a bit hard to focus when I have I read it from the main page! :)
Ah! Never-mind, the issue with the name seems to have resolved itself after I reloaded it a few times! I think it may have just been an issue with my laptop/webpage.

all updates for the public demo have stopped I think, and the patreon demo picks up from where the public one has stopped. last update was feb 27th!
is there a way to save a copy of my saves on mobile? The browser page will reset entirely sometimes and completely lose my saves D: if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it π the game is amazing!

omg i love this if so much hsgwjhgygwsygw the characters, dialogues and choices are so fun got me finish the whole demo in one afternoon. I'm glad that the mc gets to be conflicted with their feelings toward Marcus many times (which is very much realistic but i dont see many do that often) i love their banters so much eughegehg

It might take some time before I'll be able to update the public demo, but I'm doing my best! β‘

What device/browser are you using? If mobile, what type?

all it says is "get an app to open this itch.cave link" idk if its something with itch.io or if im missing something. im on pc (a laptop really) and using the app version. i tried uninstalling itch.io and eveyrything. and its not your fault dw !!
the app version of itchio is historically bad at handling this type of IF, i've seen some have warnings about that even. maybe try the browser version? hope you've been able to play!!
